FAQ

How is this different than physical therapy or other traditional medical approaches?

Our focus is on nervous system health. The nervous system controls the show. The way your life is & how you feel is directly related to your behavior & environment. These are inputs. How you look & feel are outputs. We work with you to create new inputs to get the outputs you seek.

We work with humans utilizing multiple modalities. We are strength & conditioning professionals, performance coaches, massage & movement therapists, recovery specialists, & performance breath coaches with over 15 years of experience. We don’t think like a PT or a doc. We think like performance enhancement specialists. Helping you increase your performance for both life & sport.

A PT or Doc should be reserved for serious issues & injuries. Many of the issues we face from a health stand point are related to lifestyle & behavior.

We aren’t anti PT or anti Doc. We believe that the body is strong and robust & has an innate ability to heal itself if we provide it the right environment but traditional methods have led us to treat pain & injury like the body is fragile. The human body is the exact opposite.

Our journey & experience is what makes us different than a PT & a Doc.

While our aim may be similar our approach is very different.

It’s this unique approach of creating a robust & resilient nervous system through stress tolerance training that we can promote healing combined with our 15 years of experience in various settings that include professional sports, collegiate sports, private training facilities, chiropractic & physical therapy clinics that makes us different then any approach traditional therapists & doctors utilize.

How long until I’m better? There’s no clear-cut answer for this. We believe you didn’t end up where you are today overnight & you won’t get better overnight. It takes time & it’s a long play. Every body heals at a different rate as does our body’s tissues. Depending on the severity of the issue it can take anywhere from days to months or even more than a year to heal.

How long does a session last? Anywhere from 30-90 minutes depending on your preference and our recommendations based on the findings from your initial session.

Will I get treated during my first session? Definitely. While we start your initial assessment with a thorough body scan and postural assessment, your first visit will also include a thorough treatment session. As we get to know you and how your body works, it is important for us to combine treatment and continual re-assessment.

How many sessions do I need? After your initial assessment, we will provide you with a recommendation based on your need. The majority of our clients come in to either fix their pain, recover from injuries, or tune up their bodies as part of their monthly routine. If you are in pain, we will be able to provide a more specific recommendation catered to your needs.

What do I need to bring for my session? Please bring comfortable athletic clothing for your session. We ask that you wear shorts during your session. Women wear a sports bra or tank top. If you’re getting traditional massage work we will use traditional draping.

How are you different than other therapies? We start with the belief that everything is connected. We start by looking at the global picture of how your body is ordered and balanced, how your body moves, and how one issue can lead to problems elsewhere. This helps us look strategically and systematically at potential causes of pain, dysfunction, or areas holding you back from performing at your best. This approach allows us to not just treat pain, but also to help you move better to make sure the time between pain is maximized.

Can you/do you fix (insert condition/injury/etc)? We don’t fix or heal you. You heal you. We have delivered hundreds of sessions and have experience with many variations of dysfunctional muscular patterns and injuries. If you have any questions you want before coming to your first session, feel free to contact us and I’ll get back to you right away.

Do you take insurance? We do not. We can provide you with the receipts so you’re able to submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement. We do take HSA. We will say this, the cost ends up being similar if you see us or a physical therapist through their insurance. You will most likely see us for less time but get the results you seek as opposed to paying your co-pay, seeing a physical therapist for more sessions & getting mediocre results as adherence for the most part is greater in the cash pay setting because you have more “skin in the game.”

The image below shows the comparison of cash based therapy vs insurance based. I’m not a physical therapist but I am private pay therapy.
